Ms. Pape has practiced with Rees Broome, PC since 2002. Her practice concentrates on common interest, community association and condominium law, including litigation and general civil litigation.

 

  
 

Practice Focus

Ms. Pape has substantial experience in advising common interest communities located in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. She serves as local counsel for numerous Virginia, Maryland, and District of Columbia homeowners associations and residential and commercial condominiums. She represents a wide variety of community associations, and practices in the General District and Circuit Courts in Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Orange and Culpeper Counties in Virginia and the District and Circuit Courts in Montgomery, Prince George’s, and Howard Counties in Maryland, and the District of Columbia Superior Court and Court of Appeals.  She was recognized and received the Rising Star Award winner in 2007.  Ami also lectures locally on behalf of the Community Associations Institute.

Ms. Pape has extensive experience in representing Boards of Directors in governmental compliance issues, assisting Boards of Directors in drafting and enforcing rules and covenants, and providing advice and representation on fair housing law matters, operating procedures and association management.

Representative Experience

Ms. Pape has extensive litigation experience in representing community associations in a variety of situations:

• Represents homeowner and condominium associations to enforce covenants regarding architectural and use restrictions
• Represents homeowners and condominium associations to obtain judgments for unpaid community assessments and collect monies due
• Represents communities in developing effective enforcement and collection procedures
• Represents homeowners and condominium associations in recovery of unpaid community assessments in Maryland and Virginia Bankruptcy Courts
• Represents multiple veterinary medical and surgical clients in land acquisition, financing and completion of veterinary hospital facility
• Participated in the Circuit Court and successful Supreme Court of Virginia appeal for architectural client in the seminal Workers Compensation case of Richard W. Evans v. Richard D. Hook, 239 Va. 127; 387 S.E.2d 777; 1990, which confirmed that independent contractors were not “strangers to the work”, and thus immune from suit under Virginia Workers Compensation law
