Firm History

On July 1, 1974, Jim Rees, Jon Broome and Joel Birken founded Rees, Broome & Birken, PC, in Tysons, Virginia. The three had become friends in law school and shared the vision of offering superior legal representation in a friendly, comfortable firm based in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C.  Their sense that Tysons would become an economic powerhouse turned out to be exactly right and the firm has grown and prospered along with Northern Virginia. 

Today, Rees Broome, PC has more than thirty attorneys and has honed its expertise in litigation, business, tax, estates, employment, construction defect liability, homeowners’ and condominium associations, zoning, commercial real estate and creditors’ rights work.  Every year, we find our attorneys named to “best of “lists. Now one of the largest firms based in Virginia, we have offices in Tysons and Gainesville, representing clients throughout the region.

Our founders’ original concept of best-quality legal skills, a friendly environment and in-depth understanding of Northern Virginia and the region beyond is now entering its third generation. We look forward to every new challenge and to continued broadening of our services and our skills. And we work hard to give every client, old and new, the best possible advice and the best possible experience.
